WHITEWATER, Wis. (WLCSports.com) – Senior
Leah Schmidt (Bonduel, Wis.) broke her own school record in the Weight Throw on Saturday at the Squig Converse Invite, hosted by UW-Whitewater at Kachel Fieldhouse.
Schmidt delivered the Warriors' top performance of the meet in the Weight Throw, breaking her own school record with a mark of 13.52m for a 15th-place finish out of 59 competitors. All three of her throws in the event eclipsed her previous school record of 13.18m set last season. In the Shot Put, she recorded a season-best mark of 10.92m for 20th among 59 throwers.
Junior
Marin Schibbelhut (Onalaska, Wis.) cleared a personal-best height of 1.42m in the High Jump to finish 16th. She also posted a personal-best mark of 4.45m in the Long Jump, finishing 22nd in the event.
On the track, freshman
Calliope Horn (San Diego, Calif.) posted a personal best in the 800m, finishing 13th of 48 runners with a time of 2:28.78. In the distance events, freshman
Maddie Metz (Chino Valley, Ariz.) turned in a PR in the Mile, crossing the line in 5:56.38 to place 12th.
WLC will next compete on Saturday, February 7, at the Red Hawk Invite. Field events are scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by running events at 11 a.m., from the Willmore Center in Ripon.
