WAVERLY, Iowa (WLCSports.com) – Wisconsin Lutheran College placed ninth at the Wartburg Spring Invitational, held Saturday and Sunday at Prairie Links Golf Club.
The Warriors posted a two-round total of 623 (324-299) to finish in a tie for ninth in the 17-team field. WLC shaved 25 strokes off its opening round total on Sunday, posting the sixth-lowest round relative to par in program history. Kirkwood Community College claimed the team title with a 579 (296-283), while Owen Davison of Upper Iowa University earned medalist honors at 138 (-6).
Wisconsin Lutheran was led by sophomore
Isaiah Schaser (Newburg, Wis.), who tied for 18th with a 150 (+6), improving from a 79 in round one to a 71 (-1) on Sunday for the fourth-lowest individual round in program history. Freshman
Braden Naumann (Hartland, Wis.) finished tied for 48th at 157 (+13) with rounds of 80 and 77.
Senior
Luke Capstran (Oak Creek, Wis.) added a 159 (+15) to tie for 58th, highlighted by an even-par 72 in the second round. Senior
Riley Tanzi (West Bend, Wis.) carded a 161 (+17) to place tied for 67th (82-79), while sophomore
Brayden Bode (Oak Creek, Wis.) rounded out the scoring with a 163 (+19) (83-80).
Junior
Alex Buckoski (Kaukauna, Wis.) was the top player from the Warriors' B lineup, tying for 31st with a 153 (75-78).
WLC will compete next at the Judson Spring Invitational on Monday, April 6 at Randall Oaks Golf Club in West Dundee, Illinois.
