Josh Metzger had an outstanding four-year career (1998-2001) for the Wisconsin Lutheran College men's basketball team. He was an All-Lake Michigan Conference selection all four years, and was the only three-time recipient of the Lake Michigan Conference Player of the Year award, winning three straight times from 1999-2001. The 6-foot-6 forward was selected to the NCAA All-America Third Team in 2000 and garnered Fourth Team accolades in 2001. During his decorated career, Metzger led the Warriors to four straight winning seasons, three Lake Michigan Conference regular season titles (1998-2000), and two Lake Michigan Conference Tournament championships (1998-1999). Metzger still ranks among the Warriors' all-time leaders in many statistical categories. He made history on November 25, 2000 against Grinnell, scoring a program-record 61 points on 25-of-28 shooting from the field. Metzger holds the top two spots in single-season scoring average, with 23.2 points per game in 1999-2000 and 23.1 points per game in 2000-2001. He grabbed a school-record 235 rebounds in 1998-1999 and set a program record with 3.1 steals per game in 1999-2000. Metzger also owns the program record with 488 defensive rebounds and ranks second all-time with 781 career rebounds and 216 steals. Metzger is third all-time with 1,873 career points and 18.5 points per game. He remains the only WLC basketball player to sign a professional contract, as he played in Basketligaen, the top basketball league in Denmark, earning Danish MVP honors in 2003 and 2004. He also played for the Frankfort (Ky.) Cattle Barons of the National Alliance Basketball League.
