Matt Kehl is one of the most talented players to ever put on the pads for the Warriors football team. A three-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association First Team selection (2004-2006) at running back, Kehl etched his name all over the program record books during his four seasons at WLC. Competing in America's oldest athletic conference, Kehl became the MIAA's all-time career rushing leader his senior season. A 2006 preseason All-American, he set career records for rushing yards (3,190), rushing attempts (669), and rushing touchdowns (23). Kehl also holds career records for yards per game (88.6), all-purpose yards (4,286), and touchdowns (26). Along with his career records, Kehl set several single season records. In 2005, he carried the ball 248 times for 1,285 yards, an average of 128.5 yards per game. During the 2004 season, Kehl established the program's all-purpose yards (1,640) and yards per game (164.0) records. He holds the single game record that he set in 2006 for rushing attempts in a game with 38. Remarkably, Kehl achieved these feats through the majority of three seasons after playing sparingly his freshman season.Â
