Wisconsin Lutheran College's longest-tenured coach, the late Roger Fleming served the athletics department for 31 years (1977-2007). As Athletics Director from 1977-1987, Fleming began the Warriors Athletics program, from choosing the nickname to school colors. As head coach of the men's golf team, Fleming coached two individual conference champions, Danny Behm (2007) and Ryan Barbieri (2000). He also coached baseball, softball, and tennis. Fleming founded the Warrior Golf Invitational, a fundraiser for the athletics department which currently bears his name. In 2009, WLC's Senior Scholar-Athlete award was renamed in honor of Fleming, and is granted to a senior who has excelled both inside the classroom and on the playing field. The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Golf Player of the Year award is also named in honor of Fleming's legacy. In addition to his role in athletics, Fleming functioned as admissions director, financial aid director, registrar, and assistant registrar. He also taught theological, physical education, and Greek language courses.
